1. TOOLS
1.1 Free-ball apparatus
1.2 Steel ball having no damaged or flattened surface, 324 (+/-5) g, ∮42.8 (+/-0.2) mm
1.3 Polyethylene foam, 300x300 mm, thickness (2.5+/-0.2) mm, density 75 g/m2
1.4 Blue carbon paper
1.5 Vernier caliper
2. SAMPLING
3*300x180 mm
3. TESTING PROCEDURE
3.1 Place polyethylene foam on the base
3.2 Place the sample onto the polyethylene foam
3.3 Place the blue carbon paper on the sample

3.4 Clamp the foam, sample and carbon paper together

3.5 Turn on the switch

3.6 Steel ball falls onto the sample from 1.75 m
3.7 Impact point should be within 2.5 mm of the sample centre
3.8 Measure the diameter of the crater

4. ASSESSING TEST RESULTS
Passing requirement: crater ≤10 mm
