ABRASION RESISTANCE - GB/T4085-2005 and GB/T18102-2007 (6.3.11) (adapted)

1. TOOLS
1.1 Taber type abrasion cycle tester
1.2 Dust collector
1.3 Sand paper 180#
1.4 Surgical gauze
1.5 Adhesive tape with two adhesive sides

2. SAMPLING
2*100x100 mm with a hole in the middle

3. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Condition the samples for 24 hours at 23(+/-2) ℃ and 50(+/-10)% relative humidity

4. TESTING PROCEDURE
4.1 Acclimatize the abrasion cycle tester with sand paper on the wheels for minimum 24 hours
4.2 Clean the sample surface with the surgical gauze
4.3 Draw straight lines linking opposite sample corners in order to create 4 quadrants on the sample surface
4.4 Place the sample on the tester and bring the wheels down onto the sample at 4.9 (+/-0.2) N

4.5 Switch on the tester and change the sand paper every 500 cycles

4.6 Continue with the cycles
4.7 When the Final Point (FP) of abrasion is reached, record the number of cycles. FP is reached when 2 quadrants have paper exposure of ≥0.6 mm² and a third quadrant has paper exposure of exactly 0.6 mm²

4.8 The lower data of two samples is the final result

5. ASSESSING TEST RESULTS
Passing requirement:
Residential use FP≥1,500 cycles
Commercial use FP≥5,000 cycles
There should be no exposure of the decorative PVC in excess of 0.6 mm² in at least 2 of the 4 sample quadrants
