DIMENSIONAL STABILITY AFTER EXPOSURE TO HEAT ASTM F 2199:2009 & ASTM F 1700:2004 (adapted)

1. TOOLS
1.1 Mechanical convection-type oven
1.2 Flat, smooth and polished sample exposure plates (preferably made of aluminum)
1.3 Measuring device accurate to 0.1 mm

2. SAMPLING
3*250x250 mm where the machine and across machine directions are clearly marked

3. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Condition the samples on a flat surface for 24 hours at 23(+/-1)℃ and 50(+/-5)% relative humidity. Perform the test under the same environmental conditions

4. TESTING PROCEDURE
4.1 Place the samples face up and make measuring marks both in the machine and across machine directions

4.2 Measure the lengths both on the machine and the across machine directions


4.3 Place the samples, face up, on the exposure plates and then place the latter into the oven at 82 (+/-2 °C) for 6 (+/-0.25) h

4.4 Take the exposure plates and samples out of the oven and let them recondition for 24 hours

4.5 Re-measure the samples along the same measuring marks


4.6 Subtract the final machine direction and across machine direction average measurements from the initial machine and across machine direction average measurements. A negative value indicates shrinkage, and a positive value indicates expansion
4.7 Calculate the linear change for both machine and across machine direction

5. ASSESSING TEST RESULTS
Maximum linear change 1.66 mm per meter
