ABRASION RESISTANCE FOR COATED AND UNCOATED FLOORING - GB/T 24508-2009 and GB/T18103-2000 (6.3.6) (adapted)

1. TOOLS
1.1 Taber type abrasion cycle tester
1.2 Balance accurate to 0.001 g
1.3 Sand paper 180#
1.4 Surgical gauze
1.5 Adhesive tape with two adhesive sides

2. SAMPLING
1*100x100 mm with a hole in the middle

3. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Temperature: 20 (+/-2) ℃
Humidity: 65 (+/-5)%

4. TESTING PROCEDURE
4.1 Acclimatize the abrasion cycle tester with 180# sand paper on the wheels for minimum 24 hours
4.2 Clean the sample surface with the surgical gauze
4.3 Weigh the sample (W0) to an accuracy of 0.001 g


4.4 Place the sample on the tester


4.5 Make sure the sample is flat under the weight of the wheels. If necessary, calibrate the back
4.6 Switch on the abrasion cycle tester and apply 100 cycles at 4.9 (+/-0.2) N on the sample




4.7 Weigh the sample (W1)

4.8 Weight loss (WL) = W0-W1

5. ASSESSING TEST RESULTS
Passing requirement:
Uncoated flooring:≤0.15 g/100 r
Coated flooring: ≤0.15 g/100 r and no exposed substrate
