DIMENSIONAL CHANGE COEFFICIENT AFTER WATER ABSORPTION - GB/T 24508-2009

1. TOOLS
1.1 Constant temperature water tank
1.2 Micro-caliper accurate to 0.01 mm
1.3 Vernier caliper accurate to 0.02 mm

2. SAMPLING
3*100xwidth of product mm. If the product width is >180 mm, the sample width should be 180 mm

3. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Condition the samples in an 20(+/-2) ℃ and 50(+/-5)% relative humidity environment until they are stable

4. TESTING PROCEDURE
4.1 Determine the center points on the 4 edges; draw a line between the 2 points on opposite sides of the samples’ center; mark 4 testing points resulting for moving the 2 center points on the 4 edges 1 cm towards the samples’ center

4.2 Measure the length, the width and four thicknesses of each sample (tn1)





4.3 Immerse the samples into the tank with 7(+/-1) PH water at 20(+/-2) ℃. Make sure there is minimum 1 cm between the edge of any one sample and any other sample or the water tank bottom

4.4 Take the samples out of the water tank after 24 hours and dry them with a cloth

4.5 Measure the same resulting points as in 4.2 (tn2)





4.6 Calculate and average T=[(tn2-tn1)/tn1]×100%

5. ASSESSING TEST RESULTS

Passing requirement: length≤0.3%; width≤0.4%; thickness≤0.5%
